Béchamel Sauce

Béchamel sauce is considered to be one of the Mother sauces in the French cuisine. Yet surprisingly it's one of the easiest and fastest sauces to make.

Ingredients:

  • 5 tbsp of butter

  • 5 tbsp flour

  • 3 1/2 cups milk

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Start by placing the butter and flour in a small pot over high heat to create a roux(A roux is is basically equal parts of butter and flour cooked together and used to thicken sauces)

  2. Cook the roux for 2 minutes just to cook off the taste of flour.

  3. Stir milk into the roux and whisk until the sauce starts to thicken.

  4. Lower the temperature and add the nutmeg, salt, and black pepper.

  5. Finally , Mix in the Parmesan cheese and you will have an absolutely delicious sauce.

  6. Bon Appétit!
