Middle Eastern Chicken Skewers (Tawouk)

This dish is a must have in any Lebanese household BBQ since its always the dish that finishes first so Grab Em While You Still Can!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken breasts (cut into about 1.5 inch cubes)

  • 1 green bell pepper (cut into squares)

  • 1 cup of whole mushrooms

Chicken marinade :

  • 1/4 cup yogurt

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 2 medium lemons (juiced)

  • 1 tsp of grated ginger

  • 1/2 tsp of powdered cardamom

  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 3 garlic(crushed)

  • 1/2 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients of the chicken marinade together in a large bowl.

  2. Then put the chicken, bell pepper ,and mushrooms into the marinade and mix the chicken until its fully coated

  3. Allow the chicken to sit in the mix for 4 hours before cooking.

  4. Place the chicken on skewers or just on a baking pan. (check cooking methods below)

Cooking Methods:

  • BBQ on charcoal ( 5 min per side or until fully cooked)

  • Electric grill(5 min per side or until fully cooked)

  • In the oven (25-30 min at 180°)
