Pain Perdu (French Toast)

This is my favorite dessert of all time! Any time there is French toast on the menu ignore all dishes and CHOOSE FRENCH TOASTT !!!

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs

  • 1⁄3 cup milk

  • 3 tbsp flour

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1⁄4 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 4 slices of brioche or toast

  • 2 tsp butter

  • powdered sugar/maple syrup/honey (for serving)

  • 1/4 cup whipping cream or any toppings of choice

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon until combined.

  2. Dip the slices of brioche/toast into the mix (make sure both sides of the bread are covered).

  3. Melt a teaspoon of butter into a pan over medium high heat and put the French toast.

  4. Cook the French toast for 2 minutes per side or until golden brown.

  5. Whip the whipping cream in a jar by shaking it vigorously for at least 6 minutes or until the cream starts to form.

  6. Serve your French toast with some maple syrup , a dusting of powdered sugar, and a side of whipped cream.
